Hartford mayor announces "significant progress" opening roads and removing snow

Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra has announced significant progress opening roads and removing snow in Hartford. City offices are open. All streets are passable and parking ban lifts in Downtown only at 12pm and Citywide at midnight on Wednesday, February 13. Hartford public schools will be closed on Wednesday.

"We have approximately 550 streets and 500 curbside miles in Hartford and as of right now they are all passable, meaning emergency vehicles and cars can get in and out. We need to close the schools for an additional day to focus on sidewalks, continue push-back efforts and, more importantly, keep our kids safe. I need to thank DPW, HPD, HFD, CERT teams, business owners, corporate partners and each and every one of you for your patience and resolve throughout this historic storm. This has not been easy, but the cooperation you have shown has allowed us to make the progress we needed We?ve had at least 200 municipal employees, 24 contractors, 22 plows, 35 trucks 26 pay loaders on this job,? said Segarra.

Mayor Segarra also emphasized the following:

- All public schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 13;

- Parking Ban will lift in the downtown only at noon and Citywide at midnight on Wednesday;

- Vehicles parked at school lots need to be moved by 6am on Thursday, February 14;

- A hauling operation has started focusing on side streets with significant accumulation;

- We have towed 230 vehicles and issued approximately 570 snow ban parking tickets;

- The EOC will close at noon on Wednesday, February 13.

Residents are encouraged to call the direct line at EOC, 860-757-0040 for storm matters until noon on Wednesday; 860-757-9500 (the Mayor?s Office number) thereafter and 911 for emergencies. For towing information, please call 860-757-4000.
