Make prayer a part of your church's Vacation Bible School

Check out this Vacation Bible School (VBS) prayer calendar compiled by Lisa Sills for her United Methodist church's congregation.

Sills is the VBS coordinator for Calvert City UMC in Calvert City, Ky., where VBS is taking place this week, July 8-12.

Sue Engle, lay resource leader for the Paducah District in the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church, spied Sills' calendar and thinks other congregations that offer VBS might be inspired by it.

VBS?PRAYER CALENDAR:

• Before VBS: Pray for the children who will attend VBS and the workers as they prepare.
• Day 1: Pray for more calm than chaos!
• Day 2: Pray that God?s love is seen clearly by those who need it.
• Day 3: Pray that the leaders see the blessings in the work.
• Day 4: Pray for hearts to be open to God?s word.
• Day 5: Pray for the families of our VBS children.
• After VBS: Pray for opportunities to reach out to these families and offer them a chance to fellowship with believers and experience a relationship with God.
