Please join us for the First Annual National Youth Justice Awareness Month (Y-JAM) 5k Walk/Run for Justice on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Blumont Park on Custis Trail in Arlington, VA. Y-JAM was designed to bring awareness to youth in the adult and juvenile justice systems and build momentum for the state-wide juvenile justice reform efforts and to put grassroots organizing tools directly into the hands of youth, parents and families at the forefront of these efforts. This race will bring awareness to the many youth in Virginia who encounter the juvenile and adult criminal justice system every year. All proceeds will go to Families and Allies of Virginia?s Youth, a nonprofit group dedicated to transforming the juvenile justice system in Virginia to one that is fair, effective and age-appropriate, and empowering and supporting families and young people who encounter the juvenile justice system.
