There are many techniques for SEO spamming such as title stuffing, description stuffing, keywords stuffing in meta, duplicate content, cloaking, duplicate hyperlinks, hidden text and links and comment stuffing. But now, the search engines have become vigilant in catching these practices.
Too Much Importance Placed on Keywords Instead of Content
Most SEO experts place so much importance on keywords, they lose their flair for writing. These people tend to offer their content services by first finding out about the targeted primary and secondary keywords. They then create content by stuffing these words in between. This is called keyword stuffing, wherein keywords are placed almost everywhere right from the title to tags in a hope that Google and Yahoo will find it easy to pick the site ahead of others. This indicates indifference toward target users who are more interested in having quality content than in keywords. The correct way to write SEO content is to first think of a topic, write about it and then add some tags or keywords relevant to the content.

Google is the search engine giant whose search engine algorithm updates have already penalized many spammed sites in the last two to three years. If Yahoo, Bing, or Google concludes that it does not appreciate the way your sites have obtained links or the manner in which the sites have been optimized, your year-long efforts are scraped in just a few seconds.
Love of Search Engine Giants for Big Sites
Although Google tries to be just in its rulings, it has shown some signs of discrimination. It appears Google has twisted its algorithm to give preference to big sites over small ones. While this may be good for the online public, it is done to the detriment of small sites.
The No-follow Nightmare
It is nice that Big Daddy Google gave the ?href? element the ?rel=nofollow? attribute for delegating power to site owners and bloggers to determine the passing of the link juice. Although this attribute is good, on the negative side, rival camps can argue over whether it is fine to pass the juice or not. Nothing comes to mind to end this debate. Even more disturbing is the fact that big content giants such as Wikipedia have totally blocked the link juice to its contributors.
The Contrasting Duality of SEO ? It Works but it Still Does Not Work
SEO is supposed to work, but the increasing number of misleading techniques and strict algorithms has made this difficult. Small website owners often perceive SEO as ?not working? ? and the dynamic nature of SEO marketing is responsible. The frequent algorithm updates and severe penalties are some of the most hated aspects of SEO because they frequently change the entire life cycle of a site on the Internet. This is irritating, boring and debilitating for bloggers, website owners and SEO experts.
